How epunkt reinvented recruitment: ‘Technology empowers personal connection’
epunkt, a leading Austrian recruiting company with over two decades of experience, is known for its highly effective recruiting processes and personal approach. Since the recruiting landscape evolved rapidly in recent years, so did the need for change. We spoke with Daniel Petri, Head of digital transformation at epunkt, who was tasked with leading the company’s transformation, without losing the essential human component in recruiting.

epunkt has built an outstanding reputation for fostering close, trusted relationships with both candidates and clients. The key to success? Strong processes, human connection and technology. Right now is the perfect moment to push forward with even greater innovation.
The ambition? Boost efficiency!
The tools they relied on had become a barrier to progress. When Daniel joined, epunkt had just migrated from an outdated ATS to a newer system. The idea was to build additional tools on top, but that didn’t solve the core issue: fragmentation. “Our systems were collecting data, but they weren’t actively supporting users,” Daniel says. Recruiters had to jump between platforms, while key data was scattered across tools. Reports took too much time. Insights were limited. And efficiency? Just not enough.
Technology to empower personal connection
epunkt’s goal was clear: to boost recruiter efficiency and enhance candidate experiences. Daniel’s mission? Modernise epunkt’s operations without losing its human core. While there were initial concerns about AI and automation bias, the team realised that with the right tools and approach, technology could even empower the personal connection.
'It’s not about replacing humans, it’s about giving them the space to do what they’re best at.'
Recruitment is like sales
Looking closer, Daniel noticed something interesting: recruitment isn’t so different from sales. Both are about building pipelines, qualifying people, and guiding them through a process. “That’s when we realized Salesforce could be a strong foundation,” he says. “It made perfect sense.”
Byner, running on Salesforce
epunkt looked for a recruitment platform that runs on Salesforce, and found Byner. The match was immediate. Byner and Sales cloud supported the full process – from business development to placement – using one centralized platform. Not only did Byner fit 90–95% of epunkt’s ideal process out of the box, it also came with flexibility to configure the last 5–10%. “Byner had already baked in a lot of best practices,” Daniel explains. “We didn’t need to reinvent the wheel.”
The combination of modern technology, flexibility, and industry-specific focus set Byner apart. The platform’s intuitive interface made it easy for recruiters to adopt, while its open structure allowed epunkt to connect third-party tools effortlessly.
Byner’s Partner Ecosystem: ready-to-go with connected partner tools
Byner’s strong network of partner integrations was another decisive factor. Thanks to standard integrations, epunkt was able to quickly identify which tools mattered most to them, and start using them right away. Connected tools? In2Dialog for streamlining job briefings, pitches and interviews, theMatchbox and Jobdigger for AI-driven matchmaking and Jobrock for managing candidate relationships. Moreover, Hubspot is integrated for marketing-related communication, aligned with Jobrock’s recruiting focus.

Putting people first
Rolling out a new all-in-one platform during day-to-day operations is no small feat. “It’s like changing the engine of a Formula 1 car during the race,” Daniel jokes. That’s why epunkt invested heavily in a people-first adoption strategy. Including structured learning journeys, office-based champions for peer support, a custom ChatGPT pilot for on-demand guidance and live training sessions. “The goal was for our people to feel confident the moment we go live,” Daniel says. “Change only works if your team embraces it.”
Key benefits
With Byner, epunkt is able to run all core processes, from sales and recruitment to onboarding and matching, on one platform. That means:
- No more jumping between tools
- Full visibility into every candidate journey
- Consistent data and reports
- Ready to grow, without growing the team
- More time for human connection
Grow with technology
epunkt has set a new course: grow with technology. “We want to scale by increasing productivity,” Daniel says. To do that, they identified over 200 common workflows, and are automating at least 20% of them. “It’s not about replacing humans,” Daniel concludes. “It’s about giving them the space to do what they’re best at: building relationships. Because that’s what truly sets us apart.”
