Technical Product Manager
Do you want to have a more direct impact on and take ownership of the technical development of a growing SaaS platform? Does it make you happy to translate complex issues and requests into simple, actionable solutions and to personally bring out the best in the development team? Then we are looking for you!
As a Technical Product Manager at Byner, your mission is to continuously improve our own product and enrich it with new features based on user input. You do this together with our Head of Product and a team of developers who, under your guidance, deliver their very best work. You translate complex challenges in usability and various other feature requests into simple, technical solutions. As the driving force behind a “first-time-right” approach, you ensure that usability and technical feasibility are secured from the start. You are an integral part of our product & development team, report directly to the Head of Product, and act as the pivot between the roadmap and development.
Byner is the fastest-growing SaaS platform in the Benelux and the DACH region, specifically developed for agencies in project staffing, permanent recruitment and contract recruitment, using Salesforce technology. Our mission is to take our customers – and the entire staffing industry – to the next level. This ensures organizations derive real value from their staffing software and increase their own self-reliance, allowing them to remain compliant and maintain a focus on the human element in a fast-moving and complex industry. With your combined talents for technology, pragmatism, and working with developers, you will make this happen.
Join Team Byner
Together, we work on building a unique solution on the Salesforce platform that supports the core processes of our customers, from sales to invoice. Not just in the BeneLux, but also in DACH. We enable customers to realise their own success, through innovation, tech expertise, enthusiasm and community building. Helping people grow is part of our DNA, just like teamwork and fun.
What you will do as a Technical Product Manager
You will work on the continuous technical implementation of new features and bigger improvements in the product and provide functional leadership to the development team:
- Translating product vision to realisation: You take up ownership of the feature requests and larger Epics from the roadmap and work them out into functional and technical requirements, including data models and wireframes/mockups, so the team knows exactly what needs to be built.
- Optimising UX/UI: You will work on the theme of ‘Usability improvement’ to improve the UX/UI of existing features and ensure new UX standards for future features.
- Guaranteeing quality and security: During the development cycle, you evaluate the work of the developers and propose improvements to guarantee the usability and logic of the data model.
- Managing the backlog and flow: You manage and prioritize the backlog based on customer value and implementation costs, and you monitor the “Definition of Ready” and “Definition of Done.”
- Owning the development process: You lead the daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and bi-weekly sprint reviews, solve blockers, and ensure a feasible, valuable sprint fulfillment.
- Leading developers: You ensure that developers are guided during development to prevent ‘over-engineering’ and ensure features are delivered as intended.
- Continuous product improvement: You pick up feedback from customers and implementation consultants to identify and solve errors in the product, so our platform keeps improving (we maintain a zero-bug policy).
- Ensuring alignment: You work closely with the Head of Product to guarantee consistent alignment with the roadmap. Together you discuss the roadmap and priorities so you can provide your valuable input.
- Building atmosphere and culture: You ensure a good atmosphere in the development team and a culture of quality and pride.
- Developing AI usage: You help ensure that the use of AI grows within the product & development team by experimenting and investigating where AI can provide genuine added value.
What this role involves (and what it doesn't)
The Technical Product Manager is not a Product Owner and does not entail extensive stakeholder management. Nor is it about just strategic management: it’s a role about subject matter expertise, complex challenges and creative solutions. And creating synergy within a team to build great things together.
Substance over politics
Do, not just think
Technical and creative
Autonomy and growth
Why work at Byner?
Become part of our success story:
- You receive a lot of freedom, autonomy and ownership. We do not like politics and micro management.
- Do work that makes sense: if it doesn’t make sense, we don’t do it. Our ultimate goal is to change the staffing industry for the better, through our own technical and industry expertise.
- Excellent work-life balance and fun with our hybrid way of working and a positive culture based on openness, ownership and collaboration
- An individual growth plan with a clear framework and at the same time an open-ended playing field, enabling you to take charge of your personal development
What you bring to Byner
Must-haves:
- Extensive experience working in or with a dev-team, making you well-acquainted with the ins and outs of the software development process. Experience with APIs and relational data models.
- Some experience with improving UX/UI/Usability.
- Your current role is no longer purely operational, but you carry a broader responsibility for results and self-direction.
- The above experience was gained in software development.
- At least 3 years of experience with the Scrum/Agile methodology (certification is not required).
- Affinity with staffing and recruitment, because that is what keeps us occupied all day, every day.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing); your Dutch is good enough to have conversations with customers.
- A knack for AI.
Nice to have:
- Excellent understanding of the Salesforce platform, architecture, and development best practices is a plus. This experience will help you hit the ground running in getting to know our platform inside and out.
- Experience in a staffing or recruitment organization or with a recruitment software vendor (like Byner) is a valuable plus. This helps you immediately understand what our customers are talking about and what our features are built for.
You recognise yourself in these qualities:
- You are pragmatic, apply the KISS principle, and find the right balance between quality and speed (“good enough”). You understand that not everything is equally important (because if everything is important, nothing is).
- You can make choices and set priorities to ensure progress is made.
- With your assertiveness, you dare to give feedback and make decisions to guide developers in case of over-engineering and to monitor the progress of the development process.
- With discipline and drive, you maintain a tight organisation of the backlog and administration.
- You enjoy harmonious collaboration and know how to align with teammates to safeguard progress.
- You are happy to be responsible for a team and to bring out the best in other people.
- Your intrinsic drive for improvement ensures you solve problems eagerly and fix errors in the product.
- You are a self-starter, result-oriented, and analytically strong. You are energised by an organisation that steers on ownership and bottom-up initiatives.
"What I love about Byner is that you can make an impact. We have the goal to grow our company internationally and marketing is really driving that process. Seeing how the work we put in makes a difference is incredibly satisfying and motivating for me"
What we offer you:
- A salary between €5.000 and €7.000 per month (based on full-time), depending on your experience and starting position.
- A good work-life balance through options for hybrid working, self-direction, workations, and a culture that guards (mental) health.
- Monthly gatherings to work on the professionalisation of our organisation, which we do with conviction and a lot of fun. Everyone counts.
- Equipment including a MacBook, iPhone, and a portable second screen. We ensure you can work ergonomically and focused at any location.
- Profit sharing. We do not steer on individual targets, because success is always achieved together. When we hit our goals, everyone shares in the joy.
- An environment where you can be yourself, whoever you are, with plenty of opportunities for lateral development and taking on initiatives.
- A culture that values autonomy, ownership and expertise over politics, hierarchy or principle conformism
- Outings and activities you will never forget, because we love to celebrate what we achieve together!
